The Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), ranging from 30% to 40% of the charter fee, is an industry standard for daily and multi-day term charters. The exact percentage may vary depending on the yacht and location.
The APA is collected from the client and allocated to the captain and crew for provisioning the yacht according to the client's preferences (for food and beverages, ). Additionally, it covers but not limited to fuel costs, harbour fees and dockage , water toys, communications costs, delivery/re-delivery fees, laundry, extra taxes(etc.) throughout the charter.
The APA does not extend to expenses occurring beyond the scope of the yacht charter, including air travel, transportation to and from the yacht, onshore activities, and any extraordinary requests or lavish purchases made by guests.
In the unlikely event that expenses surpass the agreed APA amount during the trip, additional funds may need to be provided during the charter. Nonetheless, such occurrences are infrequent, as seasoned charter crews excel in effectively managing the APA.
Upon disembarkation, the crew will provide a detailed breakdown of the expenses incurred, and any remaining funds in the APA can be returned to the client via a wire transfer , or the client may choose to apply the remaining amount towards the crew gratuity.
